Exploring the Newark Community Center Park
Spread over a large area of 16-17 acres, The Newark Community Center Park in Newark is a recreational facility provided for all those who like being outdoors. Since it was inaugurated in 1968, it has proven to be a popular recreation spot for children and adults alike.
Situated in a convenient location at 35501 Cedar Blvd, NCCP can be reached easily via Highways 880 and 84. The park has won many accolades because of its clean environment and different kinds of recreational facilities. The Community Center can be rented to host events like private business meetings, small family parties, ceremonies, and more. There is a multi-level patio for outdoor entertainment, a kitchen, and central air-conditioning inside the venue. It can accomodate as many as 160 guests, and there is plenty of room to park.
The Park
There are separate areas for children of different age groups in Newark Community Center Park, which ensures a safe environment for all ages to play, without restrictions of any kind. The park also boasts of an outdoor court for basketball or handball. A well-lit area is demarcated for tennis lovers who want to practice their shots without the hassle of club memberships.
Whether you are a fitness freak who does vigorous jogging, or a senior citizen who likes to walk slowly, the walking paths are a delight for everyone. Lined with many trees, the walking area has benches at intervals for those who need a break. There is a separate area for picnickers where the civic authorities have provided metal tables and benches. On the weekends, the park gets very busy, so it’s best to come early for an assured free spot.
In the summer, the park can be a little congested, especially since schools are closed for the summer break. Despite this, NCCP is well maintained by the authorities and is popular with the citizens of Newark and their visitors.
Parking
Parking is not a problem at Newark Community Center Park. Two parking locations are available, one along the Newark Boulevard, and one parking lot is on Cedar Boulevard, but the visitors have to share this space with the Community Center members.
Rentals/Reservations
For reservations, you will have to call 510-578-4852 from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM and ask for Jessica. You can also send an email to jessica.gurule@newark.org for rentals. The facilities can be rented for events from 4:00pm - 10:00pm on Fridays, 8:00am-10:00pm on Saturdays and 8:00am-10:00pm on Sundays. Rentals are booked quickly and availability might prove a problem, so sometimes people even book a space a year in advance.
